Francesc Gasch Studio | Signature Design Office

The main aim of this project is to reestablish some of the (currently considered) old constructive systems and give them another perspective in order to offer a modern innovative image.

It’s common knowledge that almost 100% of the furniture pieces require fixation elements (like glue or screws). The Milano bench is an exception to this.  Furniture can be made without such elements if its design is well-researched and planned.

By using only dovetail joints, this bench is capable of supporting over 200 kg of weight.

In the formal aspects, the proportions have been studied to find the right balance between the wood’s thickness and the length and height of the bench.

In order to adapt to corners or long walls, Milano bench offers the possibility of making different seating shapes, combining two or more benches into a bigger one.

Material: Multilayered birch wood coated with a water-based varnish.
